Seaside Lifestyle

 Life by the beach is different than the everyday bustle of the city, it feels like you’re on Vacation as soon as you drive over the Nahant Causeway (the narrow strip of land that connects Nahant to the mainland).The ocean provides the perfect setting for a year-round active lifestyle; known for great surfing, fishing, boating, hiking, biking, & kiteboarding.

In addition to Nahant Beach, there are several other beaches around Nahant to enjoy including Short Beach, Tudor Beach, and Doggy Beach. The Eastern end of Nahant offers stunning rocky cliffs, tide pools, and trails to explore around 40 Steps Beach and Canoe Beach.

Accessibility

Nahant has close proximity to other picturesque New England coastal towns. It is a quick 5-10 minute drive to local stores and restaurants in Swampscott or Lynn, and about 20 minutes to the historic towns of Marblehead and Salem.

Many Nahant residents commute to Boston or Cambridge daily for work or play.It is only a 20 minute drive to Boston Logan and about 30 minutes into Downtown Boston. Nearby there are also easy public transportation options from the Lynn Train Station into Bostons North Station and from the Wonderland T Station into Downtown Boston.

Community

As the smallest town in MA, we get to know our neighbors and are a close-knit community where everyone is appreciative of the ocean and the lifestyle it provides.Nahant hosts several annual events for its residents including a Christmas Parade, 4th of July Fireworks, and Memorial Day Parade. Although it is only 1 square mile, there are also many local businesses on Nahant to enjoy (see EXPLORE page). 

Schooling

Pre-school and grades K-6 is provided by Johnson Elementary School, which has earned a Level 1 designation (Top 25% schools in MA). Children are also offered unique hands on science learning activities centered around the coastal environment including a partnership with Northeastern University’s Marine Biology Center located on Nahant. After Elementary School, Nahant students attend Swampscott Middle School & High School.
